Patients with Respiratory* symptoms can be assessed by telephone or by video consultation, as we currently do not have the capacity to adequately protect waiting patients and staff from patients with infectious respiratory disease wishing to attend in person.
Note that in order to bulk bill phone/video consultations to Medicare, a face to face attendance within the previous 12 months is required. If outside of the 12 month period, attendance at the GP Respiratory Clinic (which is free to all patients) or a paid phone/ video consultation are options. Patients who are Covid positive (by RAT or PCR test), or infants under 12 months of age are exempt from the 12 month requirement.
*Respiratory symptoms include symptoms believed to be ‘sinus’ related, lethargy, headache, recent loss of the sense of smell and the usual symptoms of blocked/runny nose, sore throat, cough, wheeze or shortness of breath. Nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea may also be due to Covid-19 illness.
All patients are currently screened by staff at the door using a check list of questions, before admission is granted.
We kindly ask all patients to attend with a disposable face mask, even if well.
